Neal, it really feels good to see that PCLinuxOS is coming out with something new. So what kind of help would you need in precise?

There are two choices for a base to start on, MiniMe '09 and ZenMini '09. Each one offers something to 'speak' for it, but which would be better? LXDE can work from either base.

Adding in the LXDE and slim RPMs is easy, but choosing what more is needed is the part that help with is needed. Also choosing what to remove without breaking the system needs to be discovered. And then of course there's configuring slim as the default DM; lxde is not in its list of environments to, so that needs to be fixed.

There will be plenty more as yet to be discovered that needs to be worked on.

I'd go Zen-mini....

It includes an internationalized and polished user interface powered by GTK+ 2. quoted from their site..to keep it light and fast you'll probably use a lot of gtk apps anyhow

For this remaster (unless thinking of including either arora or opera), I would probably use the Zen Remaster purly because if you keep it just to GTK+ based apps and not involve qt3 or qt4 then it will be quicker in response as there would be no need for the qt element to be loaded into the mix.

I believe Opera might need qt3 however libqt3 is only 3 mb.

Texstar,

You are right about

"I believe Opera might need qt3 however libqt3 is only 3 mb. "

My previous PCLinuxOS LXDE remaster had opera and it pulled qt3 out of repository.

There are also some KDE packages pulled in e.g when you install Compiz because most of the PCLinuxOS packages are task and one package gets another one.

I hope we will be able to make a more stable and working LXDE remaster this time than I could make previously.

ZenMini has some bug::It chokes on reboot at one step as shown in this screenshot

I found this issue both on zenmini iso from their server and later when i updated it fully to current status.

I would vote for ZenMini as well. Personally I would prefer work on developing than testing, so maybe I can help in resolving most of the problems in LXDE version. I would say that the LXDE version should focus more on 'full functionality while minimize memory usage'. Perhaps some website administration is OK for me too.
